Great moment from Minnesota this weekend as the WNBA Lynx raised the jersey of local legend Lindsay Whalen to the rafter. She joins Flip Saunders and Malik Sealy as the only people so celebrated at Target Center.
Whalen gave a short speech after a tribute video, before becoming more focused on the game at hand…which embodies her no-nonsense flair and drive to win.
“I always tried to represent on the court as a player and do my best, so it was great today to see [the fans] here and supporting as always,” acknowledged Whalen, who now coaches the University of Minnesota women’ basketball group. “It was a lot of fun.”
