⚡️ WE’RE GOING STREAKING! ⚡️

We take an exhaustive look at Streaking. 😆 If you are into mascot nudity we have the Dallas Stars mascot’s recent furry run, a Gritty highlight, NFL streaking from 15+ years ago and a story from the mascot archives.

WE’RE GOING STREAKING!

Dallas Stars’ Mascot Victor was on one.

Victor is a furry green alien with hockey sticks for antennas who comes from a galaxy far, far away. His name is a play on the Dallas Stars’ team color Victory Green or may be a reference to former owner Norman Green.

The win over the Avs got him so excited he went streaking.  While this sounds a little tawdry, it typically is a really funny bit for mascots.  Too ridiculous to be lewd, it generally gets a big laugh from young and old.

Victor wasn’t the only NHL mascot with a penchant for nudity recently:

And this is not a recent phenomenon…

Quick story time from the mascot performer archives:

Back in the early 1990’s I was visiting the Phoenix Gorilla.  He had a funny “streaking” bit, which I don’t totally remember aside from it included a nude Gorilla sprinting across the court.   As is the case with many mascots skits….I went home with a plan to do my own variation.

One catch was the skit is pretty dependent on the music from Ray Steven’s The Streak.

Now for all the millennials reading this y0u may be surprised to know access to the song wasn’t always achieved by typing “Ray Stevens The Streak” into the box on YouTube.

When I got home from Phoenix I had to FIND this song.

As in, get the yellow pages out and start calling around.  Calling every record store (yes, vinyl record store) asking if they had the Ray Stevens album in stock that included the song “The Streak”.

This took the better part of an 8 hour day.  At the end of the day…I STILL DID NOT HAVE THE ALBUM.  It was a multi-day hunt that finally paid off in a copy of the song and a successful skit.

Two points to remember from today’s Water Cooler here:

The internet is an amazing tool to get you virtually anything you need for a successful skit, in seconds.

and, Mascot Streaking is still fun.
