The Steel have been without fans this season, so they are altering their annual Teddy Bear Toss into a drive thru featuring players and mascots.
GENEVA, ILLINOIS — The Chicago Steel, in partnership with Geneva Family Dental, will host a family-friendly, drive thru version of the team’s Teddy Bear Toss event on Sunday, March 28, a charitable event that has become tradition across junior and minor league hockey.
The event, with appearances from Steel mascot Rusty, the Easter Bunny, Sparkle the Tooth from Geneva Family Dental and select Steel players, will take place in the north parking lot of Fox Valley Ice Arena from 11:00 am through 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 28.
As cars pull through and interact from a safe distance Rusty, the Easter Bunny and Sparkle, families will get the chance to ‘toss’ a new, unwrapped stuffed animal into a container held by Steel players. All of the stuffed animals will be donated to local charities.
For participating in the drive thru Teddy Bear Toss, the first 300 kids will receive special goodie bags from the Steel and Geneva Family Dental.
