Having a Story to Tell

It’s the simple joy of having a story to tell and shirt on your back.

Sports is one of the rare (only?) businesses where it’s encouraged to shoot things at your fans.

Preferably its t-shirts aimed with a high arc to the loudest nearby section.

I was reminded last night how fans never forget the feeling of catching a shirt. Had a conversation and noted that I work in sports and game presentation.  They immediately (and excitedly) told the story of the game they attended and caught a shirt from a shirt launcher.

Fan for life.  And someone who has certainly told that story over and over.

“It isn’t enough for a promotion to be entertaining or even amusing; it must create conversation.  When the fan goes home and talks about what he has seen, he is getting an additional kick out of being able to say he was there.  Do not deny him the simple pleasure, especially since he is giving you the invaluable word-of-mouth advertising to add to the newspaper reports.”
Bill Veeck (Hustler’s Handbook)

These moments create conversation. They spread joy.

Or as our friend Nordy puts it… “Pew. Pew!”
