Really wonderful reminder from the Oilers that game presentation isn’t always about sponsor elements and creating big laughs. Teams have a platform to serve community and help people.
In this powerful example the Oilers flag bearer was a 5-year-old battling Stage 4 brain cancer named Ben. He skated out with the team for the anthems and was recognized for this bravery by the crowd. A quiet exchange between Ben and Oiler’s star Connor McDavid added to the powerful moment.
Great example of finding ways to use your giant reach to help people, connect family and strengthen your community through you presentation. This was an element that people will remember and cherish for a long time.

Jason Gregor did an amazing job chronicling the impact the night had on both Ben, the Stelter family and the Oiler players and fans. See his Twitter feed for more.
