April 2016 Podcast

Cameron Hughes and David Raymond join Editor Jon Cudo for the April Podcast.  Cameron works through a final four of highlighted promotions, then Raymond talks about starting a mascot program and the new Clippers program.

Jon Cudo puts Cameron Hughes on the spot with a final four of promotions, including the efforts of the Durham Bulls, Sacramento Kings, Toledo Mudhens/Walleye, and Syracuse Crunch.  Cameron declares a winner…then tears off his shirts and dances.

Next David Raymond breaks down the steps to a successful mascot audition with lots of insights and examples from the recent LA Clippers debut, which David worked with the Clippers on.  Really insightful mascot program notes for any team starting, hiring a new performer or wanted to improve their current program.  Plus some hilarious stories from David’s wild ride in the mascot world.

This is Chuck the condor, the Clippers new mascot. Proof that drunk people should not be allowed to make decisions of any relevance.

David gives some great mascot character insights including: Asking what is the “flaw” in your character’s backstory that will enable them to write better comedy, in-costume/out-of-costume considerations when hiring, and how the best actors need a character bio to perform (and so does your mascot).

Exactly 1 hour of podcasting glory.
