Best of 2011: The Gameops.com Review

Best Entertainment Group:

Performance Group whose work was fresh, creative and interesting, serving as a valuable tool for their team and in their community. Providing quality entertainment and additional value for fans. All sports team performance groups are eligible. Consider quality, uniqueness, and marketplace value.

Winner: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders

Simply the standard bearers for team-controlled entertainment groups. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are not just entertainers, they are a global brand by themselves.  Selling merchandise, performing for the military, performance shows, and (of course) on the sidelines of Cowboy game the DCC are a model for value added entertainment and positive team branding.  One panelist also touted their professional backstage demeanor being as polished as their sideline routines.

Honorable Mention: Ground Crew Gorilla

One panelist explained, "no act in professional sports brings as anarchic and unhinged spirit to their performance than the Grounds Crew Gorilla. This primate embodies the anything-goes spirit of the Lake Elsinore Storm, and, by extension, Minor League Baseball."

Another panelist has noted that the act has actually toned down a little over time, so this primate is thankfully getting more calm as he ages.

A truly unique act that provided Storm fans with a fresh interesting twist on in-game entertainment.
