Ask Gameops.com: Giant Beach Ball in the Crowd?

Are these giant beach balls light enough to be bounced in and around the stands?

Thanks for your Question.

In our Giant Beach Ball Spotlight promotion (Beach Ball Battle) we use a huge 8-foot beach ball.  (See video below).

The questions is whether this beach ball could also be used in the crowd, so they could bounce it over their heads.

We asked the manufacturer if this was possible:

The Giant Beach Ball is about 16-18 lbs when inflated and it has been used at summer concerts so it has been hit and bounced around by fans.

So the answer is yes, it is possible.

However I am not sure I would recommend this ball for that use.  While it is possible, the ball is huge and thus awkward. I normally like to be a little more definitive with answers in Ask Gameops.com, but this one I am in the middle on.  Yes it is possible, and it has been done.  I hesitate, since it’s heavier and cumbersome.  If a section had sparse areas, it could be more than some fans could handle.

I might prefer using several smaller balls, like an imprinted Beach Ball (we offer sizes up to 48 inches), you can get more info on Beach Balls here.
