Buzzing by Salt Lake

saltlakebeesI thought it might be interesting to pop in on a different team occasionally to look at their promotions.  This week I look at the Salt Lake City Buzz.

Not living in the market, I rely on the internet for insight to promotions, probably not unlike a lot of fans.  To me the web is the first step in marketing your team and probably as cost effective method available.

Here is the promotional schedule this weekend for the Buzz.

  • Wed., Jun. 24
    Dollar Dogs
  • Thu., Jun. 25
Thirsty Thursday / Baseball Card Night
  • Fri., Jun. 26
    Adult T-Shirts

First the good.  I like that the Buzz is mixing up their promotions, including food and drink specials, simple inexpensive giveaways (like cards), and high perceived value giveaways like t-shirts.  Hitting families, kids, and adults with different offers.

Baseball trading cards, like tattoos, are one of those really inexpensive giveaways that can be added to any night, or used all season long as a collectors set.  You can get several thousand cards for a few hundred dollars, so its just a really inexpensive way to offer the fans some extra value.

On the downside, the information here leaves me a little empty.  It feels like the website was set last winter before all the details were set.  For the trading card night the only details are this:  Disabled American Veterans’ Baseball Card Night – Best Buy Geek Squad, so I am not sure who the card features.  Same for the Adult T-Shirt.

Maybe I am over thinking this and you get a blank Adult T-shirt….which actually, would be pretty funny.  Might not drive any ticket sales….but it’s funny.

Have a great weekend.

PS: Sorry for the missed blog this week, I had a nice string going.  I left a window open while a storm literally crossed my desk.  Keyboards and water do not mix….or so I found out this week.
